Associate DevOps Engineer – Boot Camp Program:


Solarwinds MSP is the world’s leading SaaS based company for IT Service Management platforms. We currently have a unique opportunity for an individual with the potential, and desire, to join our DevOps Engineering team. We have created a unique DevOps Engineering “boot camp” program, in close partnership with our Technical support organization, and are looking to hire a talented individual with the right core technical skills who wants to enter the leading-edge field of DevOps Engineering. This position is available to individuals who are NOT in the Cloud/DevOps space, but that possess the talent and drive to get there.


What is unique about this?

  • This is essentially a 6-8-month training and development program which will groom candidates to join our DevOps Engineering team.
  • During the first 6-8 months, you will spend 3 days a week working in our technical support teams; learning our products and supporting our customers.
  • During that same period, you will spend the other 2 days a week working alongside the DevOps Engineering team developing expertise in the tool sets we use, learning the backend products, developing public cloud exposure and expertise.
  • At the end of the development program you will move to a full-time position as an Associate DevOps Engineer in our DevOps team.


To be successful in this role will be as much your drive and desire as it will be about your knowledge. You must have a high aptitude for learning, love technology, and get energized by working with leading edge cloud solutions.


Do you have what it takes?


  • Work with support, operations and engineering team to deliver a great customer experience.
  • Deliver world-class Technical Support via phone, email and/or Live Chat.
  • Develop, support, and document automated build and configuration management processes.
  • Develop automation and orchestration capabilities which allow us to operate at scale.
  • Automate all things.
  • Provide DB management, experience with DB technologies considered a significant plus.
  • Ensure 24x7 availability of service offerings.
  • Weekend on-call rotation for escalation services.


  • Highly collaborative individual with a “get it done” approach.
  • High aptitude for learning and not afraid to work hard.
  • Must have strong systems administration and/or technical support skills with Linux and Windows OS.
  • Must have solid understanding of TCP/IP networking (including LB, VPN, Firewalls, etc.).
  • The remaining are highly desirable but not required:
    • Experience with orchestration and automation tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef)
    • Experience with DB technologies; MS SQL and/or MySQL preferred.
    • Experience with AWS.
    • Experience with Azure.
    • Virtualization skills/experience a plus.
    • Scripting and systems-related programming skills
