Our corporate office located in Austin Texas is currently seeking to hire a Director of Corporate Communications. We are looking for someone to be responsible for the dissemination of information to key constituencies, the execution of corporate strategy and the development of messages for a variety of purposes for inside and outside the organisation. This is a key role and we are looking for someone with 10+ years of experience. 

Responsibilities

  • Communications Strategy: Responsible for development and execution of integrated and innovative public relations, thought leadership, and social media plans to advance the global awareness of SolarWinds’ mission and leadership positioning. Formulates and implements strategic marketing communication strategies to advertise the SolarWinds’ new and existing products or services across all media, and across all international regions. Help formulate strategic vision and long-term PR planning, ensuring the team achieves organizational goals through innovative and impactful solutions. Develop organization’s messaging and ensure it is reinforced and consistent across all channels.
  • Public Relations: Manage proactive and reactive media relations activities globally, including fostering productive relationships with key contacts, facilitating all media requests, uncovering opportunities, crafting compelling pitches, and managing and coaching spokespeople. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that PR and social media campaigns and concepts are appropriately integrated and amplified across all platforms, and in every region. Develop press materials such as press releases, media alerts, factsheets and media pitches. Serve as company spokesperson and media contact.
  • Social Media: Develop global and regionally-focused social media strategies, integrating digital trends and social media best practices. Oversee management of social media channels and the social media content calendar as part of the overall marketing and communications calendar; track and measure results on all platforms. Engage with social communities effectively and efficiently.
  • Competitive Analysis: Tracks and analyzes competitors' products, positioning, and messaging; synthesizes information to develop an integrated marketing strategy and course of action.
  • Executive Communications: Create strategies to raise the thought leadership profile of organization and key personnel. Write scripts, speeches and talking points for organization’s key leaders for events, press interviews and public speaking engagements in global opportunities.
  • Internal Communications: Create an internal communications strategy and develop processes in partnership with Human Resources to ensure consistent, time-sensitive and inclusive messaging to all employees. Oversee creation and execution of internal communications plans to connect employees to the purpose and priorities of the business. This includes synthesizing business language and complex information into clear, relevant messages. Oversee development and execution for recurring employee communication and engagement events and activities (e.g. quarterly briefings, all-hands meetings, appreciation events).
  • Agency Management: Manage global and regional external agency resources to drive results; direct agency resources and monitor for quality control; provide direct and timely feedback; monitor and measure agency deliverables against goals and objectives.
  • Reporting: Monitor, assess and report on PR and social media results, providing media coverage reports and KPI dashboards at both global and regional levels. Ensure that appropriate, measurable baselines are established for ongoing measurement and analysis. Oversee compilation of marketing management reports. Create and implement systems of measurement and integrating results into future communications.
  • Budgeting: Develops and effectively manages department and project budgets at both global and regional levels, reevaluating their appropriateness on an ongoing basis based upon strategic objectives. Manage and track budget(s); utilize key financial and operational metrics to measure effectiveness of campaigns and programs.
  • Continuous Improvement: Consistently looks for ways to enhance existing processes for greater efficiency and existing communication vehicles for greater effectiveness and impact.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations or equivalent
  • 10+ years related experience within communications, marketing, media relations, including managing international teams
  • Comfort and agility in supporting executive communications efforts
  • Experience managing corporate social media
  • Familiarity with technical terminology, with the aptitude to quickly learn about and communicate effectively about new technologies
  • Experience working in a fast-paced start-up/high-growth environment where initiative, accountability, prioritization, and flexibility count
  • Detail-oriented, with excellent project management skills and the ability to successfully multi-task and manage several initiatives at one time
  • An eye for perfection with the natural inclination to ensure that all communications reflect excellence
  • Energetic team player, who brings creativity to the table, but thrives in a collaborative environment where many people contribute to the overall success of projects
  • Strong relationship building skills and able to collaborate with partners at varying job levels
  • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance
  • Established track record of consistent delivery and meeting or exceeding marketing deadlines
