  • Overview

    As a Senior Sales Engineer you will provide prospects, sales staff, channel partners and resellers with technical product advice during sales discussions. This position requires the ability to effectively perform detailed online technical deep-dive demonstrations, during which you must effectively promote product features, answer audience questions and clearly ascertain the prospect’s needs and requirements. As a Senior Sales Engineer you must demonstrate expert knowledge of the entire SolarWinds’ Networking and System Management product portfolios. You will be responsible for providing prospects with assistance during the product evaluation cycle. This will include responding to technical queries via email, online remote assistance, troubleshooting and solving moderately complex pre-sales support problems. Qualified applicants will have a minimum of 5 years technical product support or relevant pre-sales experience.


    • Demonstrate SolarWinds solutions to showcase features that make an IT professional's job easier.
    • Provide technical assistance to customers evaluating SolarWinds solutions to ensure their success criteria are met.
    • Perform advanced troubleshooting of all SolarWinds products.
    • Provide best practies on product design and deployment architecture using Visio.
    • Assists sales reps in offering products that solve business needs and technical challenges.
    • Deliver technical training on new and updated products to sales staff.
    • Communicates customer feedback on product feature/functionality and challengs to SolarWinds Product Management team.
    • Respond to customer questions via email.
    • Provide technical responses for RFI/RFQ/RFPs.
    • Maintian accurate documentation of all customer interactions in CRM.


    • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or 5+ years experience in a related field (Network Engineer, Network Administrator, System Administrator or similar IT related job function.)
    • Possess strong oral and written business communication skills.
    • Prior experience in a pre-sales technical role with a software vendor is preferred.
    • Exceptional customer service skills.
    • SE team “Go To” person for at least two products.
    • Advanced production configuration.
    • Advanced scalability discussion and hands-on implementations.
    • Subject matter expert in at least one of the following areas:
    • Networking/Application/Virtualization/Database/Storage technologies.
    • Must have excellent technical troubleshooting skills.
    • Experience delivering technical training to sales staff is highly desirable.
    • Extensive experience with TCP/IP based networks with a solid understaning of Network and Application management protocols including ICMP, SNMP, Syslog, WMI, RPC, DNS, DHCP and LDAP.
    • Extensive experience administering Windows Server 2012/2016 and SQL 2014/2016/2017.
