SolarWinds MSP is the world’s leading SaaS based software developer for IT Service Management Platforms. Focused on the real-world needs of IT professionals, SolarWinds products are downloadable, easy to use and maintain, and provide the power, scale, and flexibility needed to manage today’s complex IT environments.

    Responsibilities

The UX designer is an important member of the engineering team and designs user interactions and interfaces for our products.

Are you passionate about the importance of optimizing and creating intuitive user experiences that are engaging, delightful, and informed by users’ needs? Do you believe that effective user experiences come from analyzing findings from different research sources? Do you thrive in ever-changing environments and revel in the idea of embracing and influencing the change in processes and informing product roadmaps? Are you interested in working with a team of extremely talented UX designers and researchers as your peers? If so, then SolarWinds might be the right place for you. We are looking for a Lead UX Designer to join our team to design engaging experiences that meet SolarWinds’ business goals. We hope you can help define what we should be solving, not just how we solve it, by working closely with product managers and other stakeholders and by leveraging user data. You will be confident in a leadership role, comfortable juggling many projects and team members at once. Also, you will be involved in the day to day details whilst maintaining the ability to consider the bigger picture.

    Responsibilities

    • Work with product managers and other stakeholders to discover and understand user needs and requirements to turn high level product requirements into workflows and designs
    • Champion the user while defining user experience opportunities and identifying use cases whilst understanding our core products on a technical level
    • Work directly with project teams and business leaders to create new or significant business growth.
    • Lead and project manage design efforts on large projects by establishing who does what on a project through allocating work to other designers, defining and writing stories and working with outside vendors – ensure all design projects are executed on time
    • Play a large role in developing the UX teams’ skills by mentoring other designers and sharing knowledge
    • Share and communicate designs with cross-functional, worldwide teams and reporting back to the UX team while looking for areas of consistency amongst designs whilst maintaining a high standard of quality of our design language
    • Draft UX deliverables (workflows, early conceptual designs, fixes to issues seen in usability, mockups, etc)
    • Create detailed user interface (UI) mockups and prototypes
    • Take complex, technical problems and make an attractive, easy-to-use UI
    • Design solutions to usability issues in products quickly – in minutes and hours, not days and weeks
    • Rapidly iterate and launch follow-up usability tests or studies – thoughtfully incorporating user, developer, and product manager feedback into design revisions
    • Produces work independently and successfully sees it through the Agile process.
    • Participate in business and UI reviews with multi-disciplinary product teams
    • Drive recommendations based on research findings and lead communication on conceptual ideas and service strategy

    Qualifications

What do we expect you to know/have?

    • 6+ years of experience working on UX for software products, web applications, and/or complex websites.
    • Be a collaborative team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills. A sense of humor.
