  • Overview

AppOptics ( https://www.appoptics.com/ ) is a monitoring platform that gives our customers (software engineers like us) deep understanding of how their applications are performing.

As a monitoring product we collect a lot of data, but that's only half the battle: one of the biggest challenges we face is turning that data into a product that helps engineers and is satisfying to use. We're looking for a full stack web application developer to help us grow and refine AppOptics. If you're interested in data visualization, monitoring, or distributed systems then this could be the job for you.

Our stack consists of ES6, React, and Redux talking via REST and GraphQL to Rails and Sinatra apps. We develop locally in Docker containers and deploy to AWS.

The AppOptics team is small (but growing) and tightly knit. We ship early and often so that we can iterate on user feedback, we're always evaluating new technologies to see if they will benefit us, and we have lots of opportunities for individuals to have a big impact.

    Responsibilities

    • Collaboratively design and build new features in Javascript and Ruby
    • Write stable, maintainbable code test to prove it
    • Work closely
      • with product management to understand priorities and requirements
      • with the data team to retrieve data easily and efficiently
      • with the design team to craft intuitive and powerful user interfaces
    • Participate in code reviews and developer testing to ensure quality
    • Provide techncial leadership and mentorship to other team members

    Qualifications

    • Proficient in Javascript or Ruby (some experience in both)
    • Extensive experience building single page web applications for production
    • Comfortable in a Unix/Linux environment
    • Strong grasp of software design principles
    • Demonstrated ability to learn and apply new technologies quickly
    • Solid collaboration and communication skills

Why You'll Like Working for SolarWinds Cloud

Our team consists of 8 engineers, some who work in our San Francisco and Cambridge, MA offices and some who work remotely. We're a smart, experienced, and opinionated bunch who care a lot about shipping well-engineered code that makes our users happy and care very little about who's smartest or best at winning arguments. We're focused and motivated during the work day and happy to leave work at the office at the end of the day. Our Cambridge office is located in the Cambridge Innovation Center (CIC) near Cambridge's Kendall Square. The CIC is convenient to the Red Line and features many perks including community events and classes, well-stocked kitchens, and an energetic atmosphere amid lots of startups. Also a ping pong table. :)
