Overview

SolarWinds Federal is looking to add a Senior Sales Engineer to our staff.   Job includes driving license revenue by getting the technical win. Performs needs analysis and discovery.  Creates and performs presentations and demonstrations to senior level management at Federal Agencies. Installs and configures multiple Network Management products, System and Appliction Monitoring products and security related products.  Assists customers performing advanced evaluations. Follows established best practices and provides feedback on their effectiveness. Partners with sales reps on opportunities and is the technical advisor.  Initiates and drives large and complex projects to completion. Supports demand generation activities as required.  May mentor Intermediate SEs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide pre-sales technical support for SolarWinds products to both local and remote Sales Representatives
  • Understand Federal customers IT problems and describe appropriate SolarWinds solutions to their problems
  • Demonstrate SolarWinds products to new prospects
  • Meet with existing customers to educate them on new SolarWinds technology and identify new opportunities
  • Troubleshoot technical issues during evaluations
  • Work closely with Product Management team communicating product issues, customer feedback and feature/functionality requests.
  • Travel both locally and nationally for Trade Shows, customer visits and Headquarters visits.
  • Write technical responses to RFP, RFQ, and RFI documents

Qualifications

  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent technical problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Knowledge of Networking, Applications, Virtualization, Storage, and/or Security Event Management
  • Subject Matter Expert in one or more of the above areas
  • Ability to prioritize tasks based on business needs
  • Solid understanding of IT management software landscape with exceptional ability to position products
  • A good mix of technical ability, sales and customer interaction skills are required
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant Technical or  Computing discipline or 6+ years of experience in related field.
  • 5+ years of experience with Networking, Application, Virtualization and/or Storage technologies.
  • 5+ years working with Federal Government IT shops.
  • Demonstrated initiative in building relationships with key customers and partners
  • Installing, configuring and troubleshooting Enterprise IT software in the following environments
  1. Microsoft Server 2012/2016
  2. SQL Server 2012/2016
  3. VMWare/HyperV

Preferred expereince:

  • Experience with one or more SolarWinds products
  • Windows and Unix Scripting (VB, Perl, shell)
  • 3+ years of experience in a similar pre-sales role in the IT Management software industry
